Bethlehem Olive Wood

Olive trees have been cultivated for thousands of years in the Mediterranean Basin. The wood is a cream-brown that has beautiful darker streaks of brown or black. The olive wood that we carry is nicely figured and comes to us from the nativity town of Bethlehem. It is considered a sacred wood by many Christians.

In the story of Noah, a dove is released and returns clutching an olive branch, symbolizing peace between God and mankind. St. Augustine wrote in the 5th century that, “perpetual peace is indicated by the olive branch which the dove brought with it when it returned to the ark”.
